Riley Blake Back to School Blog Tour – Headed Back in Style!!

Now that the rest of the country is finally catching up with us crazies in the midwest (considering we have been back in school since the beginning of August) its time to talk back to school fashion

We are all about comfort and style around our house and anything knit is generally a huge hit. Pairing the versatile new Coquette Dress and Tunic pattern from Winter Wear Designs, simple leggings from Brindle and Twig and this gorgeous new fabric from Riley Blake’s Four Corners Collection, we  have a definite winner!!

From the new Four Corners Line I used the Teal Main print mixed with the Circles in Coral for the tunic.  Then went with the simple Gray Triangles for the leggings.  This print is so fun and vibrant and definitely met the very selective opinion of my 2nd grader, she even called it ‘cool’.

The new Coquette pattern is simply awesome! I remember talking with Suzanne about a store bought dress that we had that was similar and I told her if she ever had an idea to make something similar it would for sure make its way into our closet and she delivered a wonderfully drafted pattern with easy to follow directions.  It has an amazing size range from 1-14 so we won’t have to stop making these anytime soon.  It comes in 3 lengths, has directions on adding a double layer back so you could do a layer of lace, with or without the little accents at the shoulders and 2 different bodice options.  I chose to make the the blousey option with the tunic length skirt.

The leggings from Brindille & Twig are a very basic 2 piece legging, they are for sure one of my go to patterns.  They have VERY easy to follow directions and would be great for any beginner with knits.

This looks so great yet comfy, too. I haven’t worked with knits before but I can definitely see my first grader in this pattern made with the Aztec hot pink fabric.
