Adventures in Quilting – Bloom Quilt Block 10

To those of you that know me, this may seem out of the norm. Or on the other hand you may know that I love a challenge, and trying out new things, so it may not seem so strange.

Quilting is something that just never really attracted my attention.  I spent ALOT of time at a local quilt shop as I was starting Beri Bee; and if I’m honest I wouldn’t likely be where I am now without the encouragement of the ladies there. That said, even seeing the amazing work from Janet, Alice, Lisa and others there, I never gave it a try.    If your ever in Southern California you’ll have to check out SLO Creative Studio.  Janet moved out west and has a new shop out there. Don’t tell me you went though, it will just make me jealous 😉

Well hell must have frozen over cause here it is! My first ever quilt block!!

This is Block 10 from the Bloom Quilt pattern by Lori Holt.  I have been drooling over these Wonderland fabrics so I decided to use them for my block instead but for the most part the pattern is the same.

The Sew Simple Shapes from Lori Holt made the appliquĂ© so easy!  I just traced onto the Pellon, stitched them to the fabric and turned.

You may notice one tiny difference in mine from the others along the tour, and I apologize, I had to make the rounded leaves versus the more triangle style because of a small mixup with the templates I was sent. I really still love it so no problem  here.

I even attached all the appliquĂ© by hand! Something else that’s on my list of seeing to avoid… Anything by hand. But, and don’t anyone repeat this, it was kind of relaxing and I may have even enjoyed it a little, haha!

Now to decide what to do with my lone block… Make more? Or find a project to incorporate this one?
